Prepare an Inkscape SVG for Telegram TGS

Keep the working file and handoff separate

Preserve an Inkscape SVG as the editable master. When saving the handoff, choose a regular SVG format rather than a compressed file or a raster export. Inkscape documents several save and export formats, including Plain SVG. A simpler file format is a starting point, not a guarantee that every effect will work elsewhere.

Use clear filenames for the source and the prepared export. If you later alter a word or recolor a mascot, make that change in the master and repeat the preparation steps. Avoid gradually editing an old TGS export as though it were your design source.

Inspect the drawing as geometry

Use the node tools to inspect important objects. A shape with a small number of purposeful curves is easier to reason about than a trace with hundreds of tiny segments. Keep details that affect the silhouette or expression; remove specks and redundant pieces that disappear at sticker size.

For a traced hand-drawn star, zoom out after every simplification. A lower node count is not automatically better if the star loses its characteristic points. Compare the shape at both working scale and the size at which somebody will actually see the sticker.

Resolve text and linked content

Convert final text to paths in your export copy using Path > Object to Path. Check the result, especially for curved text, separate characters and holes within letters. Preserve an editable text version in the master so future changes remain straightforward.

If lettering follows a curve, confirm that the prepared export contains the letter shapes you intend to see. Inkscape distinguishes text following a path from the path itself. A support curve used for positioning should not accidentally become an extra visible line in the sticker.

• Replace linked or embedded photos with vector artwork.
• Inspect text after conversion rather than relying on its filename.
• Remove guides or helper shapes from the exported drawing.

Choose the page and simplify the appearance

Set a deliberate page around the sticker. Leave room for the strongest planned movement instead of cropping to the resting bounds. Inspect anything created with filters, masks or other effects: it may look correct in Inkscape and still require simplification for TGS.

For example, replace an ornamental blurred shadow with an intentional filled shape if that communicates the same depth at a small size. Do this in the export copy so you can compare the original and simplified designs. Rebuilding every effect is unnecessary when a simple shape already communicates the idea.

Compare outside Inkscape before adding motion

Open the saved SVG in a browser and look for unexpected backgrounds, missing objects or changes in scale. Then select it in the converter, complete Telegram login and inspect a simple preview. Selected SVG files are sent to the service for diagnostics.

Work from the first visible difference. If the browser SVG is wrong, revisit the export. If only the TGS preview changes, inspect the affected SVG feature. If only the animation clips, adjust the movement or artwork scale. This sequence keeps preparation, conversion and animation problems from getting mixed together.
