When TGS export exceeds its size limit, reduce the information needed to describe the artwork and animation. Cropping a preview or renaming the file will not help. Work from a copy, change one cause at a time and compare the actual compressed TGS output rather than only the source SVG size.
Record a baseline before simplifying
Save the SVG and note the preset, duration, final size and visible warning. Keep a screenshot or reference image of the intended result. You need this baseline to judge whether an optimization preserved the design and whether it actually affected the exported file.
Telegram specifies a maximum of 64 KB for TGS animations. The converter checks its compressed output and attempts optimizations, but complicated artwork can remain too large. Treat an oversized export as a reason to inspect the source, not as evidence that the file can be fixed by changing its extension.
Start with unnecessary geometry
Look for detailed automatic traces, duplicate contours, tiny isolated shapes and hidden decoration. A traced photograph can contain a huge amount of geometry even when it appears to be a simple SVG image. Remove details that do not contribute to the silhouette or expression at sticker size.
For example, a mascot jacket may include stitching, fabric texture and several tiny buttons. Keep the major jacket shape and the one button that identifies the design. Compare the result at normal viewing size before deciding whether the removed texture was doing useful work.
Simplify paths while protecting recognizable features
Use your vector editor’s simplification controls on selected paths rather than repeatedly applying them to the entire drawing. Check the face, logo corners and letter counters after each change. These are often the features people recognize first.
A curve with many nearly collinear points may tolerate simplification well. A small notch that distinguishes a brand mark may not. Keep separate checkpoints so you can recover one important contour without restoring every discarded detail.
- Choose one dense path or decorative group.
- Simplify it in the source copy.
- Inspect the silhouette and enclosed holes.
- Export again with the same motion settings.
- Keep the change only if the size or structure improves acceptably.
Reduce independent motion where it adds little
Animation adds data as well as movement. If many decorative elements each have their own timing, consider whether they need to move independently. A coherent whole-object motion may communicate the same idea with a simpler structure. Some advanced layer controls depend on the selected product plan.
Try a still baseline before adjusting the animation. If the still version is already large, concentrate on geometry. If adding motion causes the main increase, reduce the number of animated parts or simplify the motion. Do not lower the required TGS frame rate as a substitute for repairing complexity.
Compare output, appearance and future editability
Export each useful candidate and record the resulting size. The relationship between SVG byte count, path count and compressed TGS size is not perfectly linear. Removing whitespace from a source SVG may have much less effect than removing redundant geometry.
Finally, review the smallest acceptable candidate in Telegram. Check that face details, lettering and transparency survived the simplification. Keep the editable master and the successful export copy together. A file under the limit is only useful if the animation still says what you intended and can be revised later.
